We read "There's An Alligator Under My Bed" by Mercer Mayer.
down by the lake,
I'm reaching in to see
what you ate!
As we sang, we reached in the alligator's mouth to pull out picture cards with words that started with the letter "A" (e.g., apple, acorn, airplane, etc.)
Then, thanks to a student's great text connection - we also lined up the picture cards in a line and had the alligator eat them (while we identified each "A" word), like the boy had in "There's An Alligator Under My Bed"!
We made letter "A" crafts.
"A" is for Alligator!
We made alligators out of our hand prints!
