We brought in baby pictures and had a great time guessing which friend it was a picture of! We used our reasoning skills to figure out who it was - we looked at the color of their hair, eyes, etc.
We used wikki stix's to make our names!
We also worked with Ms. Moura, the Occupational Therapist, to learn how to hold our pencils correctly. We worked hard to trace our name, while concentrating on "starting at the top" of our letters.
We made owl glyphs to highlight various things about ourselves.
Beak: Yellow = Girl / Orange = Boy
Feet: Black = 4 years old / Brown = 3 years old
Eyes: Yellow = Likes letters (Writing/Reading) White = Likes numbers (Math)
"You Are 'Thumb-body' Special!"
We used ink pads to make fingerprints around our pictures. We examined our fingerprints closely with magnifying glasses! We are all different, and unique in our own way...but we are all special!
We completed the following poem:
"______________ is my hair.
_______________ are my eyes.
I'm _______ years old,
and just the right size.
My name is ___________________ and as you can see,
I'm very happy to be ME!
We read "'A' My Name is Alice" by Jane Bayer. We then used various materials to build, create, and decorate the first letter of our names!
