We enjoyed creating thank you cards and singing at
the assembly this week, to show our love and appreciation for all that our volunteers do for us! You are our sunshine, our special sunshine. You make us happy, when skies are gray. You'll never know dears, how much we love you. We thank you, volunteers! We learned the last letter of the alphabet - letter Z! We read our "My Zz Book". All the animals in the story were "Zzzzzzzz" (sleeping)! By the end of the book, we woke them all up with our great reading! ![]() We made "'Z' is for Zebra" crafts! ![]() We made "'Z' is for Zero" crafts! Little line Big line Little line To close our "Z" week, we watched Sesame Street's "Letter Z" podcast and made a list of "Z" words that we learned throughout the week! Zebra Zoo Zero Zip Zipper Zip line Zigzag Overall, we cannot believe we have already learned about all the letters of the alphabet! We are so very proud of all our hard work! :0)
This week we explored and discussed various ocean animals through reading, "Commotion in the Ocean" by Giles Andreae, watching Brain POP Jr.'s "Ocean Habitats" and participating in many hands on, ocean-themed activities. We loved learning a new song, "Animals in the Ocean", and creating movements to match the animal. We look forward to performing it at our end of the year celebration! (Practice it at home!) "Here is a starfish, and a clam. Here is a seahorse, and a crab. Here is rainbow fish, and dolphin! They all live in the ocean! ![]() As the water table, we fished for letters while trying to avoid the creatures of the sea! ![]() At our dramatic play center, we visited the 'beach' where we read ocean-themed books. ![]() At the sand table, we sifted through the sand to find numbered seashells as we practiced identifying numerals. Last but not least, throughout the week we worked on a long-term project, that took many steps. ![]() First, we decorated our rainbow fish after watching, "Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister. ![]() Next, we strengthened fine motor skills as we colored, and cut out clams. ![]() Then, we sponge-painted starfish! ![]() And used cotton balls to paint dolphins! ![]() Last, we put together all of these ocean animals to create a beautiful ocean scene! We added detail, such as coral with ripped pieces of paper. We also added detail with crayons or markers. We were so proud of our final pieces of work! :)
