ASK ME & REVIEW WITH ME - OUR WEEK IN PREK!
In October, we will be focusing on the following:
Color = orange >> watch and review our Orange Song
Shape = circle >> watch and review our Circle Song
Numeral = 2 >> Watch and review Storybots 2
Talk daily to your child about things in their environment that are orange or a circle. Talk daily to your child about items that are a pair or have 2 (e.g., a pair of socks; "I see two pumpkins", "We need two spoons", etc.)
This week, in our literacy stations, we started our weekly letter identification and exploration! This week, we learned letter "P".
Ask me to read to you 'My Pp Book'!
Ask me to share with you my "P is for Pig" craft.
Ask me about finding the pumpkins with "P" on them to color and/or dot.
Ask me about making pumpkins out of playdough!
Ask me about sorting piles of leaves by color!
Review and practice "P" at home using these links:
Sesame Street P
Ask me how to write the letter, "P". We learned how to write the letter "P",
using Handwriting Without Tears (HWT). We always remember to start our letters at the top! We know we are at the top of the letter when we see smiley.
To make the letter "P" at home:
1. Big line down.
3. Jump back up.
4. Little curve to the middle
In completing this activity, we learned to:
-use correct top-to-bottom, left-to-right directionality for letters
-listen to oral directions to attend to a simple task
-hold a crayon with proper grip to write
-use our helping hand to stabilize objects and papers
-trace capital letters
-use the same hand consistently to hold crayons
-use our fingers to hold crayons
This week, in math stations, we continued our unit on Spatial Relationships. This week, we worked on describing positions as "above", "below", "over" and "under". In completing this activity, we learned to:
-identify position or location using above and below, over and under
-listen to follow directions
-move an object in one hand to position it for placement or release
At home, identify positions in your child's environment (e.g., The chair is under the table; The clock is above the door, etc.).
